So, I know I've disappeared for awhile. HOWEVER, I have been working. Last spring I was in a program at MCBA (Minnesota Center for Book Arts) called By Design (Intro). It's a teen arts program, focusing on, what else, book arts. This Fall, I joined the advanced session of By Design, and so for 10 weeks I've been working on my project: an embossed, leather bound, wire-edge binding book. Me and the other five By Design students just finished installing our pieces and setting up the gallery for our exhibition which is. . . FRIDAY, DEC. 8th at MCBA on 1011 Washington (it'll start at 6). If anyone wants to come, you're more than welcome.
Unfortunately, I forgot to take the photographs that I would otherwise have posted here. My piece will remain on display in the gallery for a month or two, so, I'll have to wait till then (but you could go see it yourself, *hint, hint*). HOWEVER, on Monday, Dec. 11th, some time between 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Fox 9 news will be airing a couple short two minute segments on the show. My piece is a teaser. So check that out if you're an early riser! ^_^
***EDIT*** The MCBA By Design site is up and running! There's a picture of my book (though it doesn't show the covers. . . *frown*) and also a description, with quotes from my artist statement. Don't forget to look at the other five students' works! Check 'em out by following the link!
